The (brief) story of how you met/fell in love:
We met in Connecticut while Jerrell attended grad school. Here goes the unbelievable, but very true, story… I got a flat tire on my way home from work, when Jerrell stopped to give me a hand. It’s very rare to find people who do such nice things! Since he was new in town, we exchanged numbers, started hanging out and became very good friends. Our friendship led to a relationship – we had both fallen in love with each other in a matter of months.
The destination wedding decision: something you’ve always wanted or came to love?
We both enjoy traveling and wanted our wedding to be on the beach somewhere tropical and fun! Unfortunately, it rained so we had to settle for plan B. But our wedding was still amazingly beautiful!
What made you choose your resort/destination?
After some research and reading guest reviews, Hard Rock Hotel Cancun was at the top of our list. We visited Hard Rock about a year before the wedding for a site visit. We were only expecting to meet with a wedding coordinator and a florist, but we walked into a cake tasting and so much more information on vendors. The wedding department staff were so friendly and professional that we finalized our decision that same day!
How did you personalize your wedding and ceremony?
We did a lot of DIY stuff! We started off with welcome bags filled with destination essentials for our guests. We had lots of fun creating our supplies – like our sand ceremony items, ceremony programs, personalizing fans and sunglasses, spray-painting our sweetheart table décor and designing t-shirts for our wedding party.
The funniest or most unusual moment was when….
We kissed our wedding coordinator simultaneously on the cheek and our MC cried out, “What about me!?”. We kissed him as well! 😊😊
The most memorable moment was when….
We shared our written vows with each other. Telling our story and confessing our love to each other in the presence of our family and closest friends will never be forgotten.
Three words that sum up your destination wedding experience are:
Amazing, unforgettable, intimate.
Besides the wedding itself, what was your favorite part of your trip? Did you do any activities with your guests?
This had to be the night before the wedding, when we had most of our guests in our suite. We allowed each person to say something about how they knew us, and their most memorable moments spent with us.
If you could travel anywhere for your one-year anniversary, it would be:
Our dream is to travel to the Republic of Seychelles.
