The (brief) story of how you met/fell in love:

We met at Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania in 2003 and were friends from that point on. After graduation, Sara moved to Virginia to begin her teaching career. Fate let our paths cross a few times over the years, but, in the summer of 2010, those paths became intertwined. On August 24th, 2010, I wished Sara a “Happy Birthday” and extended an invitation to get together the next time she was in town.  Little did I know, she had already moved back to Pennsylvania, just minutes from where I currently resided. To my excitement, she accepted my invitation, we met for that celebratory dinner, and we haven’t been separated since.

The destination wedding decision: something you’ve always wanted or came to love?

The beach wedding was a unanimous decision, as both of us love the ocean and wanted to be married with our toes in the sand and the waves crashing in the background. After doing some research, we decided that no beach in the United States was gorgeous enough. We chose Cabo San Lucas for its beautiful landscape of white sand beaches and its access to both the sunrise and sunset over the water.

What made you choose your resort/destination?

We chose the resort mostly for its great all-inclusive package, because we wanted everyone to be able to wake up and enjoy their vacation without worry or need.  However, the stunning pictures of the grounds and the promise of a Mexican adventure made the resort even more enticing!

How did you personalize your wedding and ceremony?

To personalize our ceremony, we began by piecing together our ideal wedding ceremony from the example themes provided. We also wrote our own vows, had our guests throw beach balls (instead of flowers, rice, bubbles, etc.) as we proceeded down the aisle as Mrs. and Mrs. Sterling, and ended the ceremony with a big group photo.

The funniest or most unusual moment was when….

Our guests started showcasing their quirky dance moves (sprinklers, and shopping carts, and wheelburrows… oh my!).

The most memorable moment was when….

I woke up next to my wife.

Three words that sum up your destination wedding experience are:

Beyond All Expectations

Besides the wedding itself, what was your favorite part of your trip? Did you do any activities with your guests?

Our favorite part of the trip was having amazing friends and family that we had not seen in a few years travel from all over America to be with us on our special day. We enjoyed running to all of their rooms to greet them at their expected arrival times, laughing and playing in the pool and through town, and simply enjoying the quality time away from our busy lives with our most favorite people in the world.

If you could travel anywhere for your one-year anniversary, it would be:

We love adventures. Of all the places we could have gone, we chose Cabo San Lucas to be our wedding destination because it was somewhere neither us, nor our guests, had ever been. We want each anniversary to be just as exciting, so, for our first anniversary, we would love to enjoy another tropical paradise with turquoise seas, but this time from a private, over-water bungalow.
