One of the most common etiquette questions we hear from couples has to do with when to send out save-the-dates and invitations for a destination wedding, as well as what they should include. Here are some easy-to-remember, expert tips.

Save The Dates

When to send: 9-12 months ahead of time if possible. Of course, last minute planning if necessary is always OK with us, especially for small groups! Just be sure to send these as soon as you can.

What to include: Destination and resort name, link to your personalized wedding website and information on group accommodations and/or booking instructions.

Wedding Invitations

When to send: 6-8 weeks minimum, and up to 3 months ahead of time.

What to include: A brief (and fun!) wedding weekend itinerary, ceremony location, RSVP card and any direction on specific dress codes.

Expert Tips:

  • DO be specific about who’s invited (i.e. just the couple or the whole family)
  • DO let guests know if you’re having any pre or post wedding events such as a shower or at-home reception
  • DO specify if gifts are expected, or if their presence is all you wish to have
  • DON’T wait until the last minute – guests need time to book travel and plan for a vacation!
