Whether you are a frequent flyer or it’s your first time in the friendly skies, taking off for your destination wedding adds an extra level of excitement! Sure, flying will never be as much fun as the destination itself, but with these tips, you’re sure to have a smooth trip to paradise.
Booking Tips
Book an early morning flight – Flight delays tend to stack up over the course of the day, so scheduling an early flight is a great way to avoid any unwanted disruptions. Plus, flying first thing in the morning lets you make the most of your sunny vacation days!
Direct flights – We always suggest booking a direct flight. The fewer places you stop the more effortless your trip to paradise feels!
Packing Advice
Sail through the security line – Dress in your go-to airport outfit! The perfect airport fashion consists of comfortable clothes and shoes that are easy to slip off. We also suggest stashing your jewelry or belts in your carry-on, guaranteeing that you will breeze through the security line.
Always pack your swimsuit in your carry-on – That way, if you arrive at your resort before your room is ready, you can still hit the beach or pool to catch some rays.
Carry on your wedding attire – Store your gown or tux in a garment bag and always carry it on the plane with you. Call your airline in advance to find out what options they provide for storage. Many airlines offer closet space in the cabin, ensuring you don’t lose anything!
Travel Day Tricks
Leave your home earlier than you think you need to – Traffic jams and detours are especially stressful when you’re headed to the airport, so give yourself some wiggle room in the schedule.
Always arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight – After getting through security, use the extra time to grab a last-minute snack, gum, and bottle of water. Don’t forget to take a newlywed selfie before boarding!
Tell the check-in agent that you are headed to your destination wedding – Who knows… you might just score an upgrade!
During the flight
Stay hydrated – Flying can dry out your skin, which is the last thing your wedding day glow needs. Drink plenty of water throughout the flight and skip the booze (there’s plenty of time to celebrate afterwards!)
Try to sleep – We’re taking a wild guess that you’ve probably been running on adrenaline for the past week, so rest up on the flight. The next few days will be the most exciting of your life, so get some beauty sleep while traveling to paradise!
